Support Our Bookmobile Fundraiser

Sepia-toned image of a young girl

Our current Bookmobile is in terrible disrepair and the city does not have the money to purchase a new one which will cost $125,000-$150,000. We need the entire community to help with this ambitious project!

Do you have any old family photographs? How about pictures of the way Beverly used to look 10, 20, or 100 years ago? Are you the keeper of photos that no one knows when they were taken or even sure who they are? On May 31st, the Beverly Public Library will be hosting a very special event "Preserving the Past, Funding the Future". It will be an all day event on photographs as the bridge to both our past and our future, and on building community through them. Speakers will include the nationally known “Photo Detective” Maureen Taylor, and About.com’s expert on photograph preservation, David Mishkin. In addition, the library will run a scanning laboratory that day, allowing you to bring in photographs and have them scanned to a CD, making it easier for you to share with others or just feel secure in having a digitized copy you can keep in a safe place. This special day is a fundraiser for Beverly Library’s own antique, the Bookmobile, so there will be a small fee to attend. A complete schedule of the day's events and the registration form are available online.

And you can still support our fundraiser by bringing your returnable bottles and cans to the Beverly Bottle & Can Redemption Center at 54 West Dane Street in Beverly and asking that the money be donated to the Bookmobile fund.

If you would like to send in a donation, please make checks payable to the Friends of the Beverly Public Library. They can be mailed to the Library at 32 Essex Street, Beverly, MA 01915. You can also donate online at Firstgiving.com.
